the online journal of creative wanderlust: wherever it strikes

I.

I love ordinary people who’ve spent most of their lives being told by other people ‘You can’t do that,’ and who wake up one day and say, ‘Fuck you’ and do it anyway. They may or may not do it well, they may become either good or barely adequate in the endeavor, but they do it. And keep doing it, because, for reasons often not even clear to them, they have to. More than celebrities or politicians and contrary to appearances, they are the ones who keep the culture going. By their doings, they amaze or amuse, irritate or infuriate, nudge us outside our comfort zones, even if momentarily. They are my heroes and my muses, and one of the reasons I did itinerant muse.

II.

Another reason: itinerant muse is about inspired, occasionally irreverent wanderings - in writing and other, what I call, synesthetic arts (and everyone else calls multimedia) - all loosely related to literal or figurative travel, the kind, whether it's motorcycling cross country or traversing your living room to get something from the kitchen (possibly stubbing your toe in the process) that instigates other creative acts. Cause you never know when inspiration will strike, or where it will take you.
