How to Sponsor An Artist
- Admit you are powerlessness over your own creative impulses and give in to them.
- Realize that taste is subjective then do something or someone you like, but don’t take it personally if s/he/it doesn’t do you the same way.
- Learn to breathe properly. It helps you stay conscious.
- Admit to other human beings that you secretly long to be one of them.
- Be neither falsely modest nor arrogantly sure of “talent.” Unless you have it.
- Put some money in the jar, hat or whatever if someone’s work makes you stop for a while. Cash, check or PayPal accepted.
- Put out your own hat, jar or whatever at some point in your life. Especially at retirement.
- Learn to be unafraid to make a fool of yourself. You do it often enough anyhow.
- Stop worshipping celebrity for its own sake. Are ya listening, God?
- Don’t believe that teaching is not doing…time.
- Believe in Art as both something and nothing other than that goofy, nerdy guy who asked you out and you turned down freshman year, and is now worth billions.
- Live your life before someone else does it for you.
